Benton County Home Health

Home Health allows people with restricted mobility to receive needed care at home. You may be eligible for home health services if your physician certifies that you:

are homebound, confined to home except for infrequent or short absences or trips for medical care and,

require one or more of the following services; physical therapy, speech therapy or skilled nursing.

Who pays for home health services?

Medicare, Medicaid and Private Insurance. As with any insurance coverage, plan benefits vary and it’s best to check with your carrier when deciding care options.

 

What do home health services consist of?

Skilled services such as nursing, social services, and therapeutic treatments (physical, speech and occupational therapy) and non-skilled services such as a home health aide to assist with bathing.

 

Do you have to have a caregiver

in the home?

No, but you do have to have a caregiver that can take care of your needs that are not covered under the home health benefit, such as shopping, cooking, cleaning or other unskilled services.

 

How often does home health staff visit?

The amount of visits are determined by the physician's plan of care. Services and supplies are provided by nurses, aides and therapists.

 

What are In-Home Services?

 

Services that are provided under contract with Missouri Department of Senior Services. Senior Services makes direct referrals to Benton County Health Department for clients that meet their criteria.

 

Personal Care services are medically oriented, maintenance services to assist with the activities of daily living.

Homemaker services are general household activities provided by a trained homemaker when the client is unable to manage the home and care for him/herself.

Respite Care services are maintenance and supervisory services provided to a client in the individual's residence to provide temporary relief to the usual caregiver (s).

Private Duty Nursing services are available, by nurses in the home, to children who need more technical assistance for periods of time over three hours.
